Education

I am a native Russian speaker with more that 20 years of experience in teaching English at the university level. I graduated from Volgograd Pedagogical University (Russia) in 1980 with the qualification - Teacher of English and German. In 1991 I graduated from the post graduate courses of St. Petersburg University (Russia) with awarded scientific degree - Candidate of Pedagogical Science (PhD). My thesis was the study in the field of Motivation of Learning Foreign Languages and Methods of Teaching English. I have 29 publications more in the same field.

Experience

Since 1994 till 2005 (the year I moved to the USA) I had been in the position of Assistant Professor in Volgograd universities working with 1-2 year students of different specialties. I also have extensive experience in teaching adult students being responsible for creating, staffing and monitoring the English program for the workers of Volgograd Tobacco Factory (Russia). I had been working with school graduates as well helping them to get ready to pass an entrance exam in English at Technical University. I was also providing 5 year old children with private lessons in English for them to be admitted into specialized English schools. With my education and practical experience I am well prepared to be a tutor. I am really good at providing instructions in one-on-one settings, and I love tutoring.

I love reading. My favorite Russian poets are Pushkin and Lermontov. I love Shakespeare and Byron. I am a big fan of mysteries. so I enjoy reading the books of Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie. But I admire the novels of Charles Dickens, the Bronte sisters and Herbert Wells as well. My favorite American writers are Mark Twain, O. Henry, Ernest Hemingway and Theodore Dreiser. I love classical music and Renaissance art.
